Christina graduated from Central Saint Martins (UAL) in 2010. Her artistic practice utilises garish photographs of friends, family and found imagery that she has had some encounter with. These images are often of poor quality and she uses them as a basis for her paintings. She is interested in the tension between the ‘mundane’ and ‘everyday’ imagery in contrast to the alluring imagery of commercial culture. Be it of a burlesque dancer or a footballer, these paintings comment on self-assurance and vulnerability – painted with attitude.
Why Christina joined this project
The reason why I have joined the group project Cara a Cara was the sensitivity that I feel towards children from underprivileged backgrounds. Working with this project so far has given me a new perspective into my own awareness of humility. Cara a Cara has helped me experience issues larger than myself.
